A maid lived in a castle
Alone she was for many a year
She’d smile and play
Throughout her day
But some castle doors were shut in fear
Some castle doors where shut in fear
A knight arrived one stormy evening
His armor was a hard-won shell
His eyes knew pain beyond his age
“Sir Geoff has come,” the page boys yell
“Sir Geoff has come,” the page boys yell
CH:
He said, “You don’t have to be afraid
You just need to be brave
I will share the secret of the dove
You don’t have to be perfect to be loved.”
He took her down the darkened hallway
And opened slowly the first door
There lie the babe so pale and still
“You need not grieve him anymore”
He said, “You need not grieve him anymore
The second portal, there was much noise
The angry ghost of the king behind the door
Sir Geoff said,
“You know the king is dead
You need not fear him anymore
You need not fear him anymore”
CH
The third door he sighed
The laws of the land
Were posted there forever more
But he tore them down
And touched my crown
“You know what rules were put there for,
He said, “You need not heed them anymore”
Sir Geoff rode out of town the next day
He had so many gifts to give
The battles he fights
The peace he seeks
The love that will forever live,
The love that will forever live.
